  • Created as part of Operation Crossroads to conduct applied nuclear experiments before ultimately becoming a separate mission in September 1955
  • Used up to 108 radioactive isotopes, 33 of which are listed as "radionuclides of conern" in the radiological assessment
  • "Collected large quantities of fallout material at most U.S. atmospheric weapons tests," according to the assessment
