NBC analyzed the total number of escort profiles on one of the most prominent hobby board sites across the U.S. using the Wayback Machine web archive service. The analysis shows growth in the number of escort profiles, with a steep increase in months leading up to the enactment of a law that could hold websites accountable for hosting illegal activity.

Sex workers say the board creates profiles for them without their consent, and after another major site shuttered, its reviews showed up here, which could also account for part of the increase.
